WVS Badges

The Women's Voluntary Services for Air Raid Precautions was established in 1938 to encourage women to join the ARP services. It was not envisaged that the WVS would wear any form of uniform and a lapel badge was produced to be worn with civilian clothes.

A new badge was issued from February 1939 which had the letters WVS above the words 'Civil Defence'.
The brooch badge shown below does not appear to have been an official issue or may be a post-war production.
