At Crystal River, 12 minutes up route 19 there is a large shopping mall with big stores such as PENNY’S, KMART, BELK and SEARS. Other smaller shops, together with a food hall make it a nice place to spend some time. A destination for the whole family.There is also a multiplex cinema here.
Homosassa Springs 4 miles away has a host of local supermarkets such as Wallmart, Publix, Wallgreens and many smaller shops. At The Plaza, near Burger King, there is Sweetbay supermarket and, a good Dollar store plus many others.
Macraes our local centre for boat hire and fishing equipment including bait and guides. A boat launching ramp on the river offers the way down to the Gulf of Mexico but up the river at BLUEWATER you may swim or fish for smaller species and even spot a MANATEE lazing in the warm, clean spring water.
At McRaes dock there is an open air bar The Shed, with bargain beer and snacks also live music and dancing on friday and saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons in summer.
Various sizes of boat can be rented and the river is very scenic and interesting for the whole family, so if fishing is not your sport, enjoy the peace and tranquility of this lovely and unique place.
River Safaris, nearby, also offer boat rentals that we have found good.
