Beaches in the area are quite small but safe for small children and are never crowded, are cleaned regularly and easy to get to. Nearest is Fort Island which is a twenty minute car ride on a very pretty road though typical sawgrass wetland. Great photos to be taken. Visit Shrimp Landing on this road, see the boats, buy crab.
Pine Island beach is one hours ride south and half hour further is the pure white, world class beach at Clearwater
Seafood is an area speciality to eat out or cook indoors. Blue crab, Stone crab or Snowcrab, grouper, lobster are just a few suggestions. The shrimp are gigantic. Our favourite place is for steaks especially but a close second comes who offer a massive variety of tasty dishes, try Fahitas.
CHILLIS is also a great treat located up 19 by Home Depot.
There are numerous places to eat out in the locality but the fun is in the trying and finding.
A place not to miss is the Asian restaurant which does a great sushi boat -not to be missed - located in sweetbay plaza at homosassa springs.
