A Guide to Dixieland Jazz , Its History, Artistes and Original Recordings

Welcome

This page is an appreciation of jazz. Jazz we know as Dixieland, New Orleans or traditional. It is a tribute to the greats of jazz and to the hundreds of small bands emulating them in jazz clubs and at festivals all over the world.

In the following pages I have featured what I consider the greatest of the jazz musicians who pioneered the authentic New Orleans sound with a brief history of each in the Biography section.

I have listed what I consider are the best recordings of the various musicians in theDiscography section, and there are direct links to availability of CDs that can be purchased online.

There is also a section on jazz books that I have read and can recomend with direct links to online purchasing.

I have also included a section called Radio & MP3 Jazz where live radio jazz can be streamed and mp3,s downloaded.
