Leeming
Officially opened in June 1940, Leeming airfield can be found just east of the A1 road, and is well sign-posted. It was a built as a standard bomber airfield with the accomodation, etc. to the south-east of the airfield.

November 1940 - December 1940 --- 35 (Madras Presidency) Squadron
September 1942 - ??? --- 408 (Goose) Squadron RCAF
October 1942 - ??? --- 1659 HCU
May 1943 - June 1946 --- 427 (Lion) Squadron RCAF
August 1943 - June 1946 --- 429 (Bison) Squadron RCAF
RAF Leeming is still in use today as an active fighter/bomber base, with many of the original war-time buildings still in use, although renovated !
