Gauge: 18.2mm top of page ASCOTT-UNDER-WYCHWOOD Owner: Ken Gibbons, Size:14ft x 1ft 6ins (4.2m x 0.45m) (plus operator space) Operators: Four, Transport: Two cars. Based on the Oxford to Worcester line 1971 the layout recrates a typical, rationalised British Rail location. Ref: Railway Modeller BROCKLEY GREEN S.E.4 Owner: John Wass, Size: 12ft 6ins x 20ins (3.75 x 0.5m) (plus operator space), Operators: Two, Transport: Small van or Estate car. Depicts part of the Southern Region overhead electric system set in the early 1960s. This system was installed to allow safe shunting in the sidings of what would normally be a third rail system. Ref: Railway Modeller March 2005. CULREOCH: Owner: Ken Gibbons, Size: 18ft by 8ft 6ins (5.4m x 2.7m), Operators: Four. Transport: Two cars. Culreoch is a 'might have been' passing loop on the erstwhile 'Port Road' which ran from Dumfries to Challoch Junction. The time scale is the early 1980s assuming that the line had existed until then. GOX HILL QUARRIES Owner: Peter Leadley, Size: 16ft x 6ft (4.8m x 1.8m) (size includes operating area), Operators: Four, Transport: Two cars, The layout represents a fictional location somewhere in Oxfordshire served by a branch of the old GWR. A 2ft 3ins narrow gauge line serves a local quarry and the quarried stone is transhiped at Gox Hill. Ref: Railway Modeller September 2005. LAPFORD ROAD Owner: Ken Gibbons, Size: 14ft x 5ft 6ins (4.2m x 1.45m) (including operator space), Operators: Two, Transport: One car. An 'interpretation' of the real Lapford station in North Devon, set in the BR Blue Period. PEN-Y-MADOC: Owner: Steve Farrow, Size: 16ft by 2ft (4.8m x 0.6m) (plus operator space), Oporators: Three, Transport: Van Hire. A 1938 North Wales might have been, the layout represents the terminus of a branch off the Cambrian Coast line. Ref: Railway Modeller April 2008.. STONE Owner: Ken Gibbons, Size: 9ft 6ins x 4ft (3m x 1.3m) (including operator space) Operators: Two, Transport: One car. A small 'vignette' of a layout set on the North Devon & Cornwall Junction Railway, normally running in the 1980s but with the facility to wind back the clock to to the late 1960s. The layout is in the style of Col. H F Stevens with the traffic mainly being Ball Clay trains plus some milk and fertiliser traffic. WINTRINGHAM HAVEN Owner: Hull MRS, Size: 18ft x 2ft (5.4m x 0.6m) (plus operator space), Operators: 4, Transport: Van hire, The layout represents what might have been if the North Lincolnshire Light Railway had actually been not only built as far as Barton-upon-Humber from Scunthorpe, but had actually survived into the 1980s. Ref: Railway Modeller June 2006. ('00')Scale: 4mm/ft. Gauge: 16.5mm top of page. DRIFFIELD. Owner; Hull MRS. Size: 24ft x 10ft (8.0m x 3m) Operators: 4, Transport: Van hire plus one car . This layout shows the station at Driffield in Yorkshire as it would have been in the late 1960s until the late 1970s. A variety of trains operate using both steam and diesel power. HEAVY TRAFFIC Owner: Steve & Jean Grantham, Please note that this layout has now been sold as is no longer available for exhibitions. HOWDUN Owner: Hull MRS. Size 12ft x 1.5ft (plus operator space). Operators; Two. Transport: One car. An innovative, hands on, demonstration layout with baseboards built mainly out of transparent plastic enabling the visitor to see a wide variety of construction techniques. MARKET LINDUM . Owner: Andrew Hartshorne, Size: 20ft x 8ft, Operators: Four, Transport: Van hire + one car. Fictitious Lincolnshire location supposedly in the Woodhall Spa area of the 1930,s but with a Midland influence. Ref: Railway Modeller Nov 1994 & Aug 1999. (Please note that this layout is being revamped and should be available from 2007). MIDDLESEA Owner: John Brien, Size 29ft x 2ft (8.7m x 0.6m) (plus operator space), Operators: Four, Transport: Van hire + one car. A BR Southern Region layout based on the Hampshire Coast about 1962. Ref: Railway Modeller November 2002. SOMERS TOWN Owner: Jeff Taylor, Size: 12ft x 4ft (3.75m x 1.2m) (size includes operating space), Operators: 2, Transport: One car. A small suburban terminus located in the St Pancras/Euston area of London. Built as part of the expanding Victorian railway network as an alternative terminus for North London. The period is 1977 with the terminus dealing with DMU services. ('H0') Scale: 3.5mm/ft. Gauge 16.5mm top of page DUNCAN'S MINE, Owner: Steve Grantham, Size: 4ft 4ins x 8ins ( 1.32m x 0.2m) (plus operator space). Operators: Two, Transport: One car. The layout is set in Chippewa County, Michigan and represents a small, but busy, operation loading "Jennies" for transportation further down the line. STEINBECK,#2FACILITY. Owner: Steve & Jean Grantham.Please note that this layout has now been sold and is no longer available for exhibitions.
('009')Scale: 4mm/ft. Gauge: 9mm top of page BARROWFLEET Owner: Hull M.R.S. Size: 14ft x 2ft (4.2m x 0.6m) (plus operator space), Operators: Four, Transport: Two cars. Narrow gauge operation in the thriving brick/tile manufacturing industry of the Humber Estuary in the early 1970's. Ref: Railway Modeller Feb 1993 & April 1995, Model Railways illustrated Jan 1995. BRIDING NOORA Owner: Peter Leadley. Size: 4ft x 2ft (1.2m x 0.6m) (plus operator space) Operators: Two, Transport: One car. Minimum space layout built on an ironing board. The line represents a 1960's narrow gauge feeder somewhere on the East Coast of England. Ref: Railway Modeller May 2000. GOX HILL QUARRIES Owner: Peter Leadley. Dual Guage layout 009 and EM, please see details in the EM section above. MOORTON BOTTOM YARD Owner: Paul Windle. Size: 5ft x 1ft 8ins (1.5m x 0.5m) (plus operator space). Operators: Two. Transport: One car. The layout is based on the cramped little goods yards that were once a common feature of urban railways, it is set in the mid 1930's with traffic from various warehouses in the area. A wagon lift is a feature of the layout to allow wagons to reach the warehouses at street level. Ref: Railway Modeller May 2007. (TT) Scale: 3mm/ft. HOGLINGTON 0wner: Ray Hogben, Size: 15ft x 10ft (4.6m x 3.0m) ('U' shape) Operators:Four. Transport: Two cars. A fictitious seaside town somewhere on the East Coast of England, based in the early sixties so that both steam and diesel is seen. RED WHARF BAY Owner: Paul Derrick. Size 10ft x 2ft (3.0m x 0.6m) (plus operator space). Operators Three. Transport: Two cars. This represents the terminus of a branch line which left the Anglesey Central Railway at Holland Arms. The model portrays the station as it would have been through most of its existance. Ref. British Railway Modelling April 2003. WILLERBY & KIRKELLA Owner: David Smart, Size: 16ft x 3ft 6ins (4.8m x 1.05m) (plus operator space). Operators: Four. Transport: Van hire + one car. The layout depicts the period during early BR between 1948 until the line closed in 1958, the section modelled covers from Willerby Square ti just short of Eppleworth Road on the old Hull & Barnsley Line. ('O')Scale: 7mm/ft. Gauge: 32mm(SG) - 16.5mm(NG) top of page RHEILFFORDD CEFN GAM Owner: Mike Cook, Size: 24ft x 14ft (7,4m x 4.3m) (as an inverted 'L', plus operator space). Operators: Seven. Transport: Van hire + one car. A 'might have been' Welsh narrow gauge line in 7mm '0.16.5' scale/gauge based on a real location to the north of Mawddach Estuary. Ref Railway Modeller August 2003. WESTWOOD PARK Owner: Hull MRS, Size: 24ft by 13ft (7.4m x 4m)(including operator space). Operators: Three, Transport: Member's Van. The layout represents an area in Derbyshire during the mid 50s and early 60s with a through station that is used as the fiddle yard with the main line running over a three level viaduct, allowing rail, road and river to cross at the same point. While the layout is built to 2 rail standards the main line does have stud contact facilities which will allow locomotive designed for 3 rail operation to be run on the layout. |
