Case Study One - Multiple 4MW GT Facility

Situation - Facility embedded, production critical units suffering from significant, almost immediate output degradation requiring unscheduled outages to perform cleaning.

Task - Hydr8 to assess the current situation and present
proposal advising how output might be maintained and
shutdowns minimised.

Action - This type of issue is not uncommon in many varied operating environments and the Hydr8 team swiftly prepared a comprehensive report recommending alterations in injection equipment and an advanced OEM approved cleaning fluid.

Result - Output Maintained - No further GT related losses
in production.
Consistent Availability - Only scheduled
maintenance required.
Cost Savings - Annual fluid costs reduced by 40%.
Operational Cost Savings - Enormous.

Case Study Two - Multiple 45MW GT Facility

Situation - Facility embedded, production critical units suffering from 'standard' levels of compressor efficiency degradation yet requiring the number of off-line wash shut-downs to be reduced so that production of energy and steam could be maintained. Site did not have any budget for new injection equipment and the whole project should pay for itself and continue to deliver annual cost savings.

Task - Hydr8 to evaluate the current situation and recommend how compressor degradation might be reduced and time between shut-downs increased. Study current fluid and wash regimes and fluids to assess the potential for cost reductions.

Action - The Hydr8 team visited site and discussed the current issues with the senior management team to thoroughly understand all areas that required improvement. A detailed report was prepared recommending an advanced OEM approved cleaning fluid, optimisation of the wash programme and small non-cost alterations to current hardware and systems to ensure improved on-line washing.

Result - Efficiency Degradation Reduced - Increased period between shut-downs.
Consistent Availability - Energy and Steam
delivery maintained.
Cost Savings - Annual fluid costs reduced by 25%.


Customer Feedback - On completion the client prepared a full report on the success of the project detailing their delight with Hydr8's input and expressing how impressed they had been with the team's swift understanding of their requirements, fiscal restrictions and how agreed targets had been achieved despite
the inherent difficulties of the project. The site remains a
valued customer.

Case Study Three - Multiple 200+MW CCGT Facility

Situation - Very large CCGT power station suffering unacceptable levels of compressor efficiency degradation due to a number of disassociated factors.

Task - Hydr8 to assess current situation and report back on all areas affecting compressor performance. Study empirical operational data for site specific trends and potential issues. Hydr8 consultants to vertically integrate with operations team to deliver the desired level of performance.

Action - Various specialists within the Hydr8 team visited site on several occasions to gain data and meet with appropriate site team members. A comprehensive plan of action was agreed along with a time-line for implementation. Staged improvements implemented and individually assessed. Site objectives were regularly reviewed to ensure continual optimisation of ongoing improvements.

Result - All areas of compressor degradation highlighted - Enabling corrective action to be taken in each area (mechanical issues were referred to the OEM).
Compressor degradation vastly reduced - Consistent output returned.
Cost Savings - Annual fluid costs reduced by 50% & fuel burn down 1.5%.


Customer Feedback - On completion the client prepared a full review document comparing the Hydr8 input with that of previous suppliers. The report findings were extremely positive and the site remains a loyal customer.
