North of England Athletics Association Track and Field Championships 25th-26th May 2002

Richmond and Zetland Harriers had five athletes compete in the NoEAA T&F Championships at the brand-new City of Manchester Stadium over the weekend of Saturday 25th/Sunday 26th May. The Stadium will host the Commonwealth Games in July and August and having the opportunity to compete on the same track and field was a prize in itself. All the athletes had earned their places having bettered the tough entry standards and this was reflected in the competition, another level higher than Schools and Counties. Although none of the athletes came home with a medal, they all acquitted themselves well - under 15 boys Philip Fitzpatrick 1500m & Carl Outhwaite hammer, under 15 girl Georgina Zissler 800m; under 17 boys Matt Prosser 200m & Nick Zissler 1500m.

Inter Counties - Bedford 25th May 2002

Ken Harker won his first County vest on Saturday 25th when he competed for Yorkshire at the Inter-Counties at Bedford. Ken ran the mile race in 4:23.27 and helped the men to fifth place overall in the match.

Becky Rennison also competed in her second Pentathlon on consecutive weekends, finished fit and healthy and was third placed Junior Girl with 1877 points.
