Kettlewell Fell Race
Gary Bastow of Richmond and Zetland Harriers continued with his BOFRA quest with another fine run in the Kettlewell Fell Race on Sunday 31st June, finishing 11th overall and 3rd Vet. His next race is the big test - the Alva Highland Games in two weeks time - and his training and preparations are now with this in mind.
Elite Run - Boroughbridge
Also on Sunday, twins Scarlett and Jessica Gray competed in the 2½ mile "Elite" run at Boroughbridge, finishing in 2nd and 4th places overall and 1st and 2nd girl.
Harrogate Mid Week series - Richmond
The fifth and last scoring race in the Midweek League was hosted by Swaledale Road Runners on Tuesday 2nd July over a new course at Hudswell. The testing 8.5K route took the runners out to Coalpit Hill and back via Green Lane but didn't change the order at the sharp end with Ian Fisher of Otley over a minute clear at the front and Harrogate winning the Open Team race. The post-race supper and post-mortem at The George & Dragon was not to be missed. Jon Orange, Eric Williams and Shaun Purkiss were the toast of the night; beaten by Otley by just 25 seconds in the Elite Team race on the night but anchoring the Club to second place overall in the Open, Elite and Vets Team races.
