North Midlands Cross Country League 1st November 2003On Saturday 1st, Andrea Woodvine competed for Nottingham University in the second North Midlands X-C League fixture at Heanor in Derbyshire. Clubs from Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire are involved and she finished 4th which her Coach, Graeme Nicholson, says “augurs well for the rest of the season, as the competition in this League is quite high.”Guy Fawkes 10 Harrogate 2nd November 2003Richmond and Zetland Harriers had just two runners in the Guy Fawkes 10 on Sunday 2nd. Glynn Harby of Nidd Valley Road Runners, the organising Club, describes the course as “tough, with tortuous hills” - not an understatement given the winning time of 53:06 from Darren Bilton of Leeds City AC, 2 seconds shy of the course record but considerably shy of his PB. Colin Sewell and Paul Scott, the former RAF and the latter Army but both employed at Leeming, were a fair bit behind but both were happy with their performances - Colin completed what he called “an undulating course” in 74:24 for 113th place and Paul was 151st in 74:46.North Yorkshire Schools Area Trials 4th November 2003On Tuesday 4th, many of the Club’s younger athletes were competing for their Bedale or Leyburn, Northallerton or Richmond schools in the North Yorkshire Schools X-C Area Trials at The Allertonshire School, all hoping to be selected for their respective teams and to earn their County colours - results soonish!
