NYSD Track & Field Eastbourne-Darlington 20th April 2004
Richmond and Zetland Harriers had seventeen athletes competing at the first of this year’s NYSD T&F Meetings, hosted by Darlington H&AC at the Eastbourne Sports Complex on Tuesday 20th April.
Kim Bartram was the “pick-of-the-bunch”, demonstrating her running, jumping and throwing ability with three wins from her three events, 100m, high jump and javelin, a good work out before the serious business of League and County matches. There were also wins for Georgina Zissler in the 300m, Jessie Roberts in the 3000m, Becky Rennison in the high jump, a great one-two for Sophie Broadway and Leanne Shaw in the 100m and similarly, in the 600m, where Rosie Adams took the honours ahead of her sister Jo.
The Females made a successful start to the defence of the Cup they won last year with the twelve athletes scoring 83½ match points from the eleven events out of eighteen that they contested. Although just half a point ahead of Billingham in the Meeting and 15½ ahead of Middlesbrough & Cleveland, match points convert to League points on a twelve down to one basis amongst the twelve competing Clubs and RZH lead the Female standings with 12 points. There were only five Males at the Meeting; they competed in four events out of the eighteen on the card and the 26 match points they scored left them in 7th place with 6 League points, a long way behind the Newton Aycliffe team who contested 13 events and earned an 88 point winning total. The combined table, after one fixture, has Darlington, M&C and Billingham sharing top spot with 20 points followed by Newton Aycliffe with 19 and RZH in fifth place with 18 points.
RZH results: Jo Adams (U15G) 600m 1:51.0, Rosie Adams (U15G) 600m 1:50.2; Chris Archer (U17M) 3000m 10:31.3; Kim Bartram (SW) 100m 13.9, high jump 1m35 & javelin 24m89; Sophie Broadway (U15G) 100m 13.7; Ruth Hill (U13G) 100m 15.1; Fiona Hughes (SW) 3000m 11:57.5; Louise Jackson (SW) 3000m 10:28.4; Scott Livermore (U17M) 400m 57.1; Erica Moks (U17W) 3000m 13:13.1; Becky Rennison (U17W) high jump 1m40 & javelin 14m46; Doug Roberts (U15B) 400m 67.2; Jessie Roberts (U17W) 3000m 11:22.0; Simon Robson (U17M) 3000m 10:07.5; Leanne Shaw (U15G) 100m 13.9; Tom Walker (U13B) 100m 16.1 and Georgina Zissler (U17W) 300m 44.6.
