NYSD Cross Country Barnard Castle - 24th October 2004

Richmond and Zetland Harriers made a good start to their NYSD X-C League season on Sunday 24th October at Teesdale School, Barnard Castle. There were 32 Harriers made the start and, with five scoring teams, they managed second place from the eighteen Clubs competing for the President’s Trophy. There were several great performances by teams and by individuals, particularly from two athletes moving-up an age group. Jessie Roberts ran for the first time in the Women’s race, combining under 17s, under 20s, seniors and veterans, finishing 8th overall and 1st under 17. Similarly, Nick Zissler ran for the first time in the Men’s race, combining under 20s, seniors and veterans, finishing 15th overall and 2nd under 20. The RZH Under 17 men’s team were 2nd to Mandale by just 2 points with Phil Fitzpatrick first home in 3rd place and UK triathlon champion Rich Hunt followed-up his previous week’s win in the Richmond Castle 10K by finishing in 8th place, first Harrier and bringing the team home in 3rd place.
