News 11th May 2005
Richmond and Zetland Harriers will have their work-cut-out over the next month as they host three important fixtures. On Tuesday 14th June, the Club hosts the third fixture in the NYSD T&F League at Catterick Garrison Stadium, following-on from race 3 in the Midweek League at Gilling West the previous Tuesday and then the third fixture in the NoEAA T&F League at Eastbourne Sports Complex, Darlington on Saturday 2nd July.
Two Harriers, Rachel Ross Russell and Sarah Gregory, are well down the road to recovery after injury and are both close to racing again. They were both knocked-out-of-their-strides earlier this year but put aside the disappointment of missing the London Marathon and embarked on schedules of physiotherapy and cross-training - cycling and swimming to keep the cardiovascular system ticking over. Last month, Rachel ran a 5K inside 19 minutes, 4th leg for Notts AC (her first claim Club) in the Women’s 6 stage Road Relays at Birmingham; she is intent on competing at Ripon this Sunday before lining-up with her team-mates at Guiseley next Tuesday for the Midweek League race. Sarah was buoyed with a recent 33:30 for 5 miles, taking over 3 minutes off her best over a regular training route and said “the so-called-rest has obviously done me a lot of good, even though it wasn't enjoyable at times” but has decided that next week’s road race is a little too soon and intends to make her season’s debut either in the next Senior T&F fixture or at Gilling West in June.

The first NYSD T&F League fixture was hosted by Darlington H&AC at Eastbourne Sports Complex on Tuesday 26th April.
