Harrogate League - Skipton 21st June 2005

R&Z Team - Skipton

The fourth race in the Midweek League series was on Tuesday 21st June at Skipton. Distance appeared no obstacle as the Harriers had thirteen athletes toe the line to great effect. Ian Fisher of Otley didn’t make his customary flying start as he had raced up Snowdon the previous Sunday but was into the lead by halfway and went on to add another win to his tally. With four wins out of four to date and with the best four from five results counting in this summer’s new scoring system, this assures him of another individual title. One place behind, Jon Orange was first Veteran and his points tally to date similarly assures him of the Veteran Man’s trophy. Rachel Ross Russell added to the winning feeling when she came home in 20th place, first Woman and first Veteran Woman and the Veteran Men’s team rounded things out by winning their race with Harrogate H&AC. 2nd RZH results: 2nd (& 1st M40) Jon Orange 24:12, 17th Ian Scott 27:14, 20th (& 1st Woman) Rachel Ross Russell 27:23, 21st Shaun Purkiss 27:32, 41st Tony Hewson 28:37, 47th Taff Rogers 28:52, 53rd (& 2nd M55) Mike Brooks 29:12, 56th Chris Peacock 29:21, 120th Neil Piper 33:21, 130th Sarah Gregory 34:00, 146th Ian Hepworth 35:02, 207th Louise Foster 40:01 & 227th Shirley Mathurin 42:48 out of exactly 250 finishers. These results leave the Club in second place in both the Elite and Veteran Men’s races but the gaps between them and Otley and Harrogate respectively appear too great with just one fixture remaining.
