British Milers Club - Meeting 27th June 2005

The British Milers Club had a Regional Meeting on Monday 27th June at Monkton Stadium, Jarrow with 800m races for Men and Women. It was a worthwhile journey for Edd Richards; he was seeded in the B race and finished 5th in 2:07.1, a season’s best at this point.

Northern Senior Track & Field Fixture - 2nd July 2005

The Harriers hosted the third Northern Senior T&F League fixture on Saturday 2nd at Eastbourne Sports Complex, Darlington. There was a good turn-out on the Men’s side but injuries, work and holiday commitments caught-up with the Women. Fourteen Men competed; they covered all but 3 of the 34 individual slots plus both relays and were first by a considerable margin. The Club had four winners in five individual A-string events: Scott Goodrum made one last attempt to reach the qualifying distance for the English Schools T&F Championships and, although his best was a metre short, it was good enough to win the triple jump; Matt Prosser was a surprise entry in the 110m hurdles and then shocked everyone, including himself, by winning in a PB 19.0; Jon Orange was a double winner, first with 4:12.3 in the 1500m (a time which ranks him 5th M40 in the country) and then in the 5000m and the evergreen John Wild, 53-years-young and throwing as well as ever, with a season’s best 34m26 to win the hammer. The Women’s team had the encouragement of debuts from Paula Copeland and Charlotte Edwards plus busy afternoons from first Sarah Gregory and then Jenny Fenwick who knocked more than 6 seconds from her PB in the 800m. RZH results: Women - Paula Copeland 1500m 5:48.2; Charlotte Edwards 3000m 13:27.3; Jenny Fenwick (U20) 100m 17.2, 200m 34.9, 800m 3:07.8, 400m hurdles 96.6 & long jump 3m38; Sarah Gregory 1500m 5:56.5, 3000m 12:28.9, hammer 14m88, discus 13m51, javelin 11m40 & shot 5m58: Men - Noveed Adris 100m 12.8, 110m hurdles 20.4 & 400m hurdles 66.8; Mike Brooks (M55) 3000m steeplechase 12:41.5; James Brownfields-Pope (U20) 1500m 4:59.1 & high jump 1m65; Scott Goodrum (U17) 200m 24.8, long jump 5m53 & triple jump 12m09; Ken Harker 2:01.7; Jon Orange (M40) 1500m 4:12.3 & 5000m 16:27.7; Sean Osborn (U20) 100m 12.6, 400m 54.0 & high jump 1m65; Chris Peacock (M40) hammer 11m75, discus 13m89 & javelin 25m92; Matt Prosser (U20) 110m hurdles 19.0, 200m 25.6, shot 7m80 & long jump 4m82; Edd Richards (U20) 800m 2:06.6; Ray Robson 400m 69.0; Taff Rogers (M40) 400m hurdles 77.1 & 3000m steeplechase 12:30.7; John Wild (M50) hammer 34m26, discus 31m95, javelin 30m79 & shot 9m47; Eric Williams (M45) 5000m 16:49.3; 4x100m relay 48.5 & 4x400m relay 3:48.0. RZH finished 2nd behind Seaton in the overall results and although they are still 4th, they are only 3 League points behind NMH - a win in the last fixture could clinch the second promotion slot!
