Marc Scott 4th overall in York Millennium Bridge 2.5K Race

York Millennium Bridge 5K and 2.5K Races 8th August

Three Richmond and Zetland athletes took part in a 2.5K race at York on 8th August, which is run in conjunction with the annual York Millennium Bridge 5K. The fast and flat course starts on the west side of the river Ouse and continues south along the river until the Millennium bridge, which it crosses before heading north and finishing near the Ouse bridge. Marc Scott was first Harrier home in an excellent time of 9.37, earning him 4th place overall and 2nd in the Male 13 age group. Close behind was brother Rob, also running a fantastic time of 10.20, gaining him 11th position overall and 5th in the same age category. The only female representative from Richmond and Zetland was Brogan Fraser, showing her sprinting form over the track season has paid dividends over the longer distance, as she crossed the line in 25th place, with a time of 12.16 and took 2nd place in the Female 15 age group.

Tartan Games Track & Field Meeting 26th August 2006

Gateshead International Stadium was the venue for the ever-popular Tartan Games Open Track and Field Meeting on Saturday 26th August, where ten Richmond and Zetland athletes took part in a variety of events. There was a fine tally of medals won on the day, including silver and bronze medals for sprinter Leanne Shaw in the Under 17 Ladies 100m and 200m, as well as silver for Rob MacLean in the Under 13 Boys 200m, Charlotte Dinsdale in the Under 13 Girls Shot Putt, Jack Thomson in the Under 15 Boys Triple Jump and bronze for Nick Outhwaite in the Pole Vault and Matt Prosser in the Men’s Long Jump.

John Bentley had a strong run in the Under 13 Boys 800m Final, while sprinter Brogan Fraser produced some great times in the Under 15 Girls 100m and 200m finals. Sam Wood showed his strength across the events, by competing in both the 200m heats and 800m final, while team mate Tom Allen finished 8th overall in the 800m, with a first-rate time of 2.19.61.
