English Junior Fell Running Championships 2007

Richmond and Zetland Harrier Marc Scott has been heading for the hills recently and is taking part in the English Junior Fell Running Championships in the Under 14 Boys category; a competition, which is organised by the Fell Runners Association throughout the Summer months, with the 4 best results counting from 6 races. He is also competing in the BOFRA Championships in the same age group. Often preferring to run off road and thriving during the Cross Country season, Marc’s training is very suited to these challenging conditions. To date, he has completed 3 races, all of which stand him in an excellent position on the overall leader board. First came the FRA race at High Rigg, near Keswick on 27th May covering 1.5 miles and incorporating a climb of 1200 feet, where he finished 9th from 35 runners. He was back on the fells just a week later on 3rd June at Lothersdale, near Skipton for a slightly longer race of 2.9 miles, with an ascent of 600 feet, where he finished 11th overall from 30 participants. His most recent outing was the BOFRA race at Kettlewell over 1.5 miles and again with 600 feet of climbing, resulting in his best performance to date, finishing a magnificent 3rd overall from a field of 26 competitors. With these results already accomplished, this could be a very fine season for Marc on the fells.
