Kelley Haniver & Tamsin Clark

Fleet Half Marathon 16th March 2008

Two Richmond and Zetland athletes, have been putting in race preparations ahead of the London Marathon on 13th April. Tamsin Clark and Kelley Haniver both made the journey south to take part in the Fleet Half Marathon in Hampshire on Sunday 16th March; a favoured and highly popular race for anyone preparing for the London Marathon. The flat, fast course, which is run along urban and rural roads, attracts a high volume of competitors and both runners were certainly in form on the day.

Tamsin was first across the line, clocking a fantastic finishing time of 1.21.42, which also earned her 2nd placed lady, only a minute behind the ladies winner. She also claimed 64th place overall from over 1900 finishers on the day, which sets her up very nicely indeed for the forthcoming 26.2 miles in just over a week’s time.

Kelley also had a fabulous race, setting a personal best time on this, one of her favourite courses for the 13.1 mile distance. She crossed the line in 1.24.45, taking almost a minute off her previous best time, as well as finishing as 7th lady and 98th person overall. This shows that the high mileage weeks are paying off for both athletes and they should be able to compete extremely well in London on the day.

Cyril Elliot Open Meeting , Middlesbrough 29th March 2008

Ken Harker has now moved from the Cross Country mud and hills to his favoured surface of the track and started his seasonal campaign in style at the Cyril Elliot Open Meeting at Middlesbrough on Saturday 29th March. Opting for a slightly longer distance than normal in the form of the 3000m, he felt it was a good chance to test his speed at the very start of the track campaign. The weather conditions were far from favourable, being wet, very windy and cold, but he still managed at fantastic time of 9.57, crossing the line in 4th place overall, but was 3rd in the Senior Men’s age group, which promptly earned him the Bronze Medal.
