NYSD Track & Field - Darlington - 24th July 2008
The NYSD Track and Field league continued at Darlington on Tuesday 24th June, where no less than thirteen athletes won their events, showing that Richmond and Zetland were very much on track. Emma King was also named female athlete of the match for her performance in the Under 13 Girls 200m with a fantastic time of 29.7, with team mate Rachel Stirr taking 4th place. Sophie Talbot and Georgia McCann then took 3rd and 4th place over 200m for the Under 15 Girls and there were double victories for veteran thrower John Wild in the Senior Mens Hammer and Discus, where he eclipsed the rest of the field with distances of 32.09m and 31.84m and George Robinson in the Under 17 Mens High Jump and Triple Jump. Paul Kilsby continued his excellent form by winning the Senior Men’s 200m in a time of 23.8, followed by Matt Prosser in 3rd and Chris Fletcher in 7th place overall, while Karl Murray cruised to victory for the Under 15 Boys, with team mate Tom Moore taking 4th position.
Abbie Fletcher boosted the points with 3rd place in the Under 13 Girls 1500m crossing the line in 5.49.3, while Rosie Stirr and Amy Coulson claimed 3rd and 5th over the same distance for the Under 15 Girls, with times of 5.40.2 and 5.51.9 respectively. The familiar trio of Fergus Roberts, Marc Scott and James King were in action in the Under 15 Boys 1500m, claiming 1st, 2nd and 4th positions respectively, with some wonderful times of 4.35.6, 4.40.0 and 4.59.3. Sam Wood and George Robinson were equally impressive for the Under 17 Men, taking 1st and 2nd overall with 4.23.3 and 4.24.9, while Laura Wrigley gained 2nd place for the Senior Women with 6.58.1.
Veteran Jon Orange dominated the Senior Men’s 1500m race with another excellent clocking of 4.10.6, well clear of his competitors once again, while Tad Zaranko also proved swift over the distance with 4.43.2 and Chris Fletcher with 5.29.9. Tom Moore then went on to take 2nd place in the Under 15 Boys High Jump and overall victory in the Discus with a brilliant throw of 28.57m, while James Hunt equalled this for the Under 17 Men in the same events, jumping 1.30m and throwing 17.02m.
