The FED 2-Type I does not have flash synchronization (The other models, Types II and III, do). The back and baseplate, which are joined, are removable to allow film loading. There are two locking keys, at either end of the baseplate. The lever alongside the film rewind knob is for diopter adjustment.

This is the first Russian Leica copy of Soviet design.
