FED 2/50 or 3.5/50

The Cyrillic B is V in Latin and this model is sometimes referred to as the FED V.

The FED B differs from the normal FED models of the time by having a top shutter speed of 1000 and the addition of a slow speed dial on the front of the body.

HPR states in Leica Copies that probably only 40 of this model were made, on an experimental basis. It is quite possible that later conversions of 'standard' FED's of the time exist. A camera reputed to be a FED B sold on the eBay Internet auction in 2002 for $349. This does seem a remarkably low price for one of only 40 cameras!

* This is the serial number range for FED's produced in 1938/1939. The camera pictured in Leica Copies has the serial number 74386.
