The Kristall 53 (also known as the Kristall Patented 53) is similar to the Kristall 3s Type II. The viewfinder is, however, different, having frames for 28, 35, 50, 75, 90 and 105mm lenses. The appropriate frame is selected by using the small lever located next to the viewfinder window on the front of the camera body.

Slow speeds are selected by using the small dial located on the top plate, in front of the shutter release button.

Flash synchronisation is provided through the integrated flash socket on the front of the body. The appropriate synchronisation (E for electronic flash or V for flash bulb) is selected by a small lever. This is located in the bottom of the camera and is accessed by removing the baseplate.

* The pictured camera is shown with a Trixar 3.5/50 collapsible lens. This is the standard lens found on Wega models such as the 2a and lla. C D Chinaglia Domenico and AFIOM (manufacturer of the Wega) merged around 1952 and it is possible that cameras were constructed with parts from both factories.
