The company Meguro Kogaku Kogyo Co. Ltd. market the Melcon (Original). As they have no previous history of camera production, it may be that the Melcon is manufactured on their behalf. Only a limited number of these cameras (perhaps around 1500) are produced, between 1955 and 1956. These are supplied with either Konica or Nikon lenses.
The Melcon ll is introduced. Although retaining the Leica screw lens mount of the Melcon (Original) this camera is quite different in appearance (more Contax ll than Leica ll). Production of this model is very low.
By 1958 mention of the Melcon in publications is rare, and the company appears to fade away.
