This model is similar in appearance to the Leica Standard and is basically a Reid lll Type ll without the rangefinder and slow speeds. Although advertised as available to the general public, it was aimed specifically at government bodies (the military and police). Nearly all, if not all, known examples have military markings, such as F.S./8810. Additionally, cameras are often found with 460-9009 engraved on the front rim of the top plate.

The Reid l has flash synchronization (through two sockets on the front, labelled E for electronic and B for bulb).

REID AND SIGRIST LTD, LEICESTER Eng. is engraved around the plinth that supports the speed dial and the word Reid, in script, appears in front of the accessory shoe. The serial number is engraved to the rear of the shoe.

For details of the lens cap supplied with the Taylor-Hobson lens, camera boxes and leather case see the Reid lll (Type2) page.
