This model is also
known as the Reid lll (First Model). It is similar to the Reid lll Type
Il, but has no flash synchronization, and the high speed dial is engraved
Z (B on the Type Il). This model incorporates diopter adjustment (lever by the film rewind knob). For details of the
lens cap supplied with the Taylor-Hobson lens,
camera boxes and leather case, see the Reid
lll (Type2) page. * Although announced in the British Journal of Photography in 1947, production models did not reach the shops until 1951. ** It appears that a number of Reid III Type I cameras (possibly around 100), with serial numbers above P1400, were produced with a single flash socket on the front for flash bulbs (M). |
