Setting of the Guide
The approximate extent of the guide is shown below. The excursions described
are convenient for visitors staying in the villages around Kyle of Lochalsh,
Plockton, Dornie and Lochcarron. This area possesses three marvellous hill
complexes - those of Torridon and Achnashelloch, Glen Shiel and Cluanie and
the Isle of Skye. The last possesses perhaps the best walking and scrambling in
Scotland but routes from here are absent from the Guide as they are not ideal
from the point of view of the novice.
