The name  Ichi Byô Shi is from a saying by the legendary Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi and means ”in one breath”  and reflects the intention to act in an instant, so that realisation, decision and action are instantaneous.

The club kamon or emblem, was designed by Adam Jackson of  the Kodokan Kendo Club, based on an Iron-Age design of Celtic origin which was found near modern day Milton Keynes.

The club intends to compete to the highest levels taking advantage of the highest standards of coaching which are available from Kendo instructors both from the UK and Japan. We will be inviting top instructors of the B.K.A to the club and will accompany students to seminars by senior Japanese coaches.

The club will aim to assist the development of it’s members as athletes and as individuals, stressing the benefits of respect and discipline whilst ensuring that the students have fun and enjoy their training,  all students will learn all aspects of Kendo and have the opportunity  to compete if they wish.

The club opened in June 2006 in Hemel Hempstead for juniors and in May 2008 in Aylesbury for adults,
