9th March 2007, pencil on bristol board, 29.5x21cm, no references.
Soundtrack: "Wild Swan" (by Magnum, from "Wings of Heaven").
The time has come, bid farewell. A flight through dangerous skies, into the wilderness.
Follow the river, out to sea.
On the wings of heaven, travel into the night.
Stars sparkle like diamonds, through Taurus and Orion.
On and on, ride over mountains so high.
Another dawn breaks through clouds, darkness fades, restless winds whisper of past dreams.
Rays stream, snow drifts, a cold reflection, retrospection.
Journey onwards, over fields and the ruin of castles.
Through the mist, a vestige of thoughts once had, ruined monuments of memory.
An epitaph read, images recalled, a world shrouded in grief.
A sad elegy softly sung, Memento Mori.
Stillness, reminiscence, a quiet prayer of remembrance.
Recollection of words spoken and written, deeds done, yet still the great misconception.
Away from her beck, the Glamour recedes, bringing solitude within.
A look to the skies, but no answer, no end of heartache. A storm is coming.
In sorrow, a name spoken, awakened misery. Her face, a haunting memory.
Through conflicting emotions, desire to bridge division, a never-ending torment.
Clarity has come, a burning resolve, rising, renewed.
The wayward son, coming home.
"What shall assuage the unforgotten pain, and teach the unforgetful to forget?"
Dante Gabriel Rossetti |
