Headquarters

After unsuccessful attempts to re-establish acceptable facilities at 11 Belgrave Road, following the refurbishment of the 6th floor, the Club has relocated its HQ from 30th April, 2007, to The Carpenters Arms, 12 Seymour Place, London W1H 7NE.

Nearest tube is Marble Arch. Map | Pub Guide

The Club is greatly in Mr Naldrett’s debt for enabling us to enjoy rent-free accommodation in the 6th Floor Conference Room at 11 Belgrave Road for the last nine years and for his leading role in the work which has gone into identifying and negotiating the use of a new venue, at The Carpenters Arms, which will also be rent-free.

We also thank the Inland Revenue for helping us out with use of the ground floor room since the Conference Room became unavailable.

Regarding our new location, Geoff advises: "We have been given rent-free accommodation in a room above The Carpenters Arms, which is very near Marble Arch tube station, so very central. I still intend to retire at the end of June, or shortly afterwards, so 11 Belgrave Road will no longer be available to us. The room can hold matches of up to 10 boards, and individual games or Combined League matches can be played there, as long as the room is available. We intend to try for a block booking for Wednesdays for next season. Eastman Cup matches could (just!) be played there, but home Bronowski Trophy matches would have to be played elsewhere."

"DIRECTIONS - Leave Marble Arch tube station (Central Line) at exit 1, which is in front of you as you come up the escalators – don’t go right!  Marble Arch will be ahead of you, slightly to your right. You can’t miss it!! Turn right out of the station, then first right into Great Cumberland Place. Then take the second left into Seymour Street, then the first right into Seymour Place. The pub is at 12 Seymour Place, about 100 yards along Seymour Place on the right-hand side.  Go to the back of the pub, then up the stairs (downstairs for the toilets). There is a good range of real ales for connoisseurs, plus fizzy beer and lager!   There is Sky Sports on the TV screens, but it’s quiet upstairs."
