This trophy, a silver plated goblet mounted on a plinth engraved with the winners' names, is awarded annually to the member achieving the highest score in matches for the Club each season. The matches which count towards the Tooke are decided by the Committee but in principle include all 1st Team and "A" Team fixtures listed on this page, including the Banks Team Swiss "A" Team matches, played at standard rates of play up to and including 31st May each season (results known at that date).

If two or more members record the same highest score then the member or members with the lower(est) number of games played (ie highest average) shall be awarded the trophy.

In the statistics below, the grade given after each name purports to be the grade published in the ECF Grading List 2006.  The grading given in the end column ('Perf.') is the Grading Performance resulting from the statistics listed, subject to a minimum of three gradeable results.  The Grading Performance is a statistic for interest only; it is not an official grading and should not be used for any other purpose (e.g. grading limit competition).

THIS SEASON'S TOOKE has been won by Tony Paish with the excellent score of 6 points from 7 games. (There is one futher fixture but this occurs after the 31st May cut-off and will count towards next season's Tooke.)

Paish set a hot pace, winning his first five games before losing at Hastings. Martin Page was within a half point of Paish with one match left, having played three games more. Both players were on duty for that final fixture, the Bronowski match against Commercial. Page did his best by winning, but Paish also won to take the silver goblet by half a point.
