The first event at our new HQ went off well with a good turn out of eight.

David Sedgwick, as well as controlling, won the inaugural event at our new HQ, The Carpenters Arms, near Marble Arch. He got his one bad result out of the way in round 1, then won five in a row, before taking a draw in the last round.

Julian Farrand, perhaps pre-tournament favourite, was in contention until scuppering his chances by leaving his king in check against Paul Barclay, suffering instant capitulation.

David Malcolm was the early leader, but faded towards the end to fall back into a tie for third place with Ian Hunnable, whose tournament went in the opposite direction; they met in the middle!

It was good to welcome back Nick Faulks still playing a challenging game.
