Round 1 v Drunken Knights

Played 30th January 2008 at The Plough, Museum Street, WC1

* The Drunken Knights are a London League Division 1 side. When they applied to join the London League, back in the mid-1970s, concerns over their name and the possibility that this might bring the League into disrepute were raised at the AGM, but were rebuffed by the DK representative who pointed out that 'Drunken Knight' was the name of a chess opening (1 Nh3).

Eastman Plate Semi-Final v West London

This fixture was due to be played on Wednesday 9th April, at The Carpenters Arms. The date had been arrived at only after protracted negotiation.

The previous evening, West London indicated that they were conceding the match as they were unable to raise a team. We were notified by email from the controller at 10.48 pm 08-April. Anthony Kent picked this up on the morning of 9th April and managed to get the message to eight of our players, but two of our number actually attended the venue only to find that the match had been cancelled. West London have apologised for the shortness of notice to cancel.

We progress to the Eastman Plate final, where we will meet Streatham.
