| The above match - and two others - were held between 18
and 20 March 1952 as part of the van Riebeeck Tercentenary Festival.
This marked the 300th anniversary of the first Dutch settlers, under
their commander Jan van Riebeeck. The meetings were held at the van Riebeeck Festival Stadium, a temporary structure on reclaimed land, and reports say that the speedway meetings were the most popular events of the festival. The speedway meetings were: 18.03.52 South Africa 36 Overseas 36 19.03.52 Dominions 35 Europe 37 20.03.52 South Africa 33½ Overseas 38½ Each of the meetings also included a second-half individual event for the Van Riebeeck Trophy, comprising 2 Semi-Finals and a Final, for which points were awarded 4-3-2-1.
