The visiting star-studded Rest of the World team were no match for the USA on their own tiny tracks at Costa Mesa and San Bernadino, suffering two humiliating defeats, with Peter Collins failing to score in six races at the latter venue. They regained their form on the more familiar sized Ascot track, where 17 year old Shawn Moran top scored for the Americans, before a further loss at another small track, Ventura. A scheduled 5th match at Ascot on 15.03 was rained off, probably just as well as Michanek (death of his mother), Ross and Muts (back in England for Wimbledon meeting), and Simmons and Louis (equipment stolen from their van) had all left the tour, though the Owen brothers, Joe and Tom, had been flown in as replacements.
