CIRCLE
DANCE TEACHER
Since 1989 Helen learnt her skills originally via Nawal and Dee, Mandy de Winter and Hugh Spriggs among others. She has in recent years enjoyed partnering other teachers like Cindy Kelly, Paul Boizot and Sophia Hatch. Helen loves to lead days or weekends of Seasonal or other themed Dance, often integrating it with some live music or song. Special interest in Peace (see Windows for Peace CD above), Interfaith understanding, and Harmony with Nature. INVITATIONS WELCOME if you can have a circle of 12+ paying dancers. Locally Helen teaches evenings of Circle Dance in Manchester, Stockport and Chester; and started the group in Sale before moving to teach in Bishops Castle for a couple of years. The Timperley/Altrincham circle ran happily under her guidance before she handed over to Terri Goron..  |
SINGER/MUSICIAN
Helen O is best known for her powerful wide-ranging and multilingual Singing Voice and her ability to improvise vocally in numerous genres (e.g. The Wave) as well as recreate the style of many European circle dancesongs..In various bands she plays drum/percussion and recorders, taking her easily portable (!) vocal-instrument with her wherever she is wanted! ... Dance Camp Wales with Bob Minney and Lindajoy among others, Slovenia when recording and co-teaching with Marijan Rudel, and Romania 06. When possible she encourages and coaches others to sing or teach, and has led many groups for simple part songs of a scared nature... Helen was a founder member of Panharmonium, Cosmo Kolo and currently sings for Hora, circle dance band with Adrian Pointon (musician and Israeli dance specialist) and John Hofton (flautist). They have recently played for wedding celebrations and garden parties for Peace as well as for Circle Dance days. She is a keen networker, and appreciates all those who have inspired her and offered her opportunities to co-work, as well as giving thanks to her loyal dancers over years.
