The Boer War

In Christchurch Park in Ipswich there are two memorials - quite close to each other - the first is for those killed in the Boer War

The monument consists of a soldier from the Suffolk Regiment standing resting on his upturned gun.

Around the stone base are plaques containing the names of those who died

The bonze has become heavily stained but is still a very moving statue.
