Henry Woods Wollaston in his History of the Wollaston Family states, regarding Francis Wollaston (1731-1815)(Brenda's 5th great grandfather):- “Althea Hyde, his wife, was descended from the Hyde family, one of whom, the daughter of the Earl of Clarendon, was married to James II and the mother of Queen Anne.” Actually Anne Hyde was not only the mother of Queen Anne, but also of Queen Mary II (Of William and Mary). I am not sure how Brenda's 5th great grandmother fits into this, but there is quite a lot of tenuous evidence in the facts we do know. Althea Hyde Wollaston the daughter of Althea Hyde married into the Heberden family as did Francis' sister Mary. The Heberdens were physicians in the Royal household. Mary's daughter, Mary Heberden, married Rev George Leonard Jenyns who was related to Sarah Churchill (Duchess of Marlborough) the friend and confidante of Queen Anne. All of which lends some support to the royal connection. The Hyde name was carried by members of the Wollaston family for many generations, including the famous scientist William Hyde Wollaston (1766-1828). Althea has also been a family name over the years. As an example of the names, in the branch of the family that I am mainly working on at the moment (The Trevors of Caernarfon and Anglesey), we have Frances Althea Wollaston (1796-1830), the daughter of Francis Hyde Wollaston.
