| Fifty
vibrant photographs showing views from Ivybridge and
surrounding areas now grace the atrium walls of Ivybridge’s
new library and resource centre opened last week.
The images were
selected from over 100 offered by members of the Ivybridge
and District Camera Club and range from close up details
of local buildings to views of the town and Dartmoor
scenes.
The photographs
have been printed large on 850 mm high fabric acoustic
panels that also form part of the essential sound dampening
for the building’s atrium.
Within days of being
hung the photographs have attracted much attention say
Watermark building staff, even though the atrium is
not fully in use yet.
“The natural
lighting from the roof and end windows in the atrium
make for excellent viewing of the photographs”,
said Camera Club website manager David Rayner.
“They can
be seen from the entrance level for the performance
hall and also from the landings and offices above. It’s
a wonderful illustration of the high level of local
talent Ivybridge has, and a boost for the Camera Club
too,” David added.
David also praised
the clever idea from the architect and also town hall
staff to use photographs as part of the building’s
structure and performance. Project architect Sarah Lee
said, “The photographs complete and enliven the
atrium – and look great!”
Altogether images
from over fifteen camera club members were selected
and a reference list and credits will shortly be erected
near the photographs.
