Ivybridge Camera Club
was formed in April 1982 on an ‘idea’ by one of
our founder members, the late Bill Watson.
The club became affiliated to the Ivybridge Community
Association in May 1982 and was known as the Ivybridge
Community Association Photographic Society. Meetings
were held at the Jubilee Hall, Ivybridge Community
College.
In January 1983 the club became a member of the
Western
Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF) and
is still a participating member club. By being
a member of the WCPF the club has access to lectures,
competition judges, exhibitions, seminars and
other photographic activities controlled by the
federation.
Being a member of the WCPF also gives the club
access to services provided by the Photographic
Alliance of Great Britain.

The club remained with the Ivybridge Community
Association until 1989 when we became known as
the ‘Ivybridge Camera Club’, although this was
not formalised until much later, in 1997.
However, we still continued to meet at the Ivybridge
Community Centre until 1996.
Until summer 2005 meetings were held at St John’s
Church Hall, Ivybridge, but now we have moved
to a new hall at Bittaford and this has enabled
us to grow.
Exhibitions of club members’ photographic work
have been held at various venues within our local
area, such as Ivybridge Garden Association shows
and within the Ivybridge Arts and Craft Society
Exhibitions.
Inter-club competitions also offer an opportunity
for members to see their work exhibited and judged
against other standards.
