Practical Tutorial Evenings

Following on from our successful Digital Practical Evenings first held during 2006, Ivybridge & District Camera Club will be holding another series of Practical Evenings through this year. Except for outside events, these will be held at the Community Hall, Jubilee terrace, Bittaford.

Sessions will cover a range of practical issues from beginner to expert and will cover such subjects as taking photographs, composition, camera controls, mounting photographs for competitions, computer storage of digital images and processing those images on the computer. There will be a bias towards digital photography but many film-based issues will also be covered. The software used will mostly be Photoshop Elements, with occasional forays into Photoshop CS2.

We will continue the idea of splitting the meeting up into two sessions, usually with differing themes. Visitors and occasional visiting members should appreciate some of these sessions will be held at an advanced level.

As well as providing an opportunity for learning about photography, these meetings provide a forum for discussion - both as a group and individually - that is not so easily found on our busy regular club evenings. We intend to leave sufficient time for these activities in the schedule.

The practical evenings will be held about once per month and will be open to visitors and club members alike. The meetings will normally be held on Tuesday evenings, slotting in with our regular club meetings.

Practical Evening dates for 2008 are:
February 05 March 04
April 01 May 06
June 03 July 01
September 02 October 07
November 04

Evenings run from 7:30 to 10:00. A nominal charge of £2 per time will be asked. (This covers the cost of the hall, tea or coffee and printing the handouts etc.) If you are not a club member, please enroll by speaking to one of our committee when you arrive.
