MediaStudio 5 is a non linear editing system which is PC based.
Typical Computer Setup.
The software used enables the capture, and editing of video generally conforming to the PAL system via a capture card which is fitted, and setup within a PC. The video clips containing video, and audio are normally stored on a high speed, large storage hard drive (s). The boot drive contains the OS, and video editing software. The video/sound clips are placed on a timeline together with text, transition effects, and other imported files. Each of the assembled timelines of files are given a project name, and stored on the AV hard drive This particular system requires that all the clips are rendered after capture, and placed on the timeline, which can take some time, normally equivalent to a time greater than the running time of the final video. This system is limited to an individual clip length of less than 2Gb. (an MS windows limitation, overcome in RT2000 by sequencing clips) The final processed output is fed out of the computer via a breakout box. The quality of the processed output can be set by the setting of the parameters within the editing software. High quality requires the highest processing speed, and Mb/sec, leading to the requirement of large capacity hard drives. As a general guide SVHS requires 1Gb/5 minutes of video, at 3Mb/sec Broadcast standard requires 1Gb/0.5 minutes of video, at 21.2Mb/sec Typical Timeline presentation, video at the top with audio in yellow at the bottom. Notice the transitions between the various clips. The length of the time line above is 1.5 hours.
