Ernest and Millie had four
children, my Grandfather being the first. After Millie died
in 1937, Ernest swiftly remarried but had no more children.

Sam was a groom and served in the Bedfordshire
Yeomanry in WW1. He earned three campaign medals and went
to France in 1915. In 1916 he began to suffer from osteomyelitis,
a bone marrow disease. He was invalided out in 1917 and suffered
for another 2 years before he died of the disease and septic
arthritis in September 1919. He is buried along with his mother
and father in a large plot in Kempston Cemetery.
