The Tudor Tavern was a little pub that used to do cheap beer (£1.40) before it closed. It's main trade was as a restaurant, but there was a separate pub bit.
There was an upstairs bit which we're told was used by underage kids, but we
never had a look. We don't know if this had anything to do with it closing down
in 1998. It reopened as Chalk Blue in early 1999. We think it was a wine bar-type place, but it didn't go down well with the punters obviously, as it closed within a month. The old
place then stood empty, gathering dust for over a year, until Bar 11 took over. The shape hasn't really changed much inside; just a couple of walls knocked out. |
