The old County
Hotel's Tudor Bar was actually just the corner of the hotel restaurant, an
old-style carvery type place lacking any modern comfort. Drinks were expensive
and there was no atmosphere - we only visited out of completeness. People tended
to look at you like you shouldn't be there (especially if there was a whole
bunch of you in the middle of a pub crawl of all the pubs within the city
wall..). There wasn't a big range of draft beers.
The County Hotel was massively
upgraded into the ABode Canterbury in 2006. It's champagne bar, Michael Caines,
is in roughly the same place as the old Tudor Bar. |
