Jane' s Alley Lyrics Page 4
Lonnie Johnson was a guitarist of exceptional talent, he was born in New Orleans and during the 1930s made scores of records. He has long been a favourite of ours .We initially came across this photo of him which prompted us to write the words
" Lonnie's just a faded photograph, dog-eared sepia toned and brown
But he lived in the days when the ragtime craze just stomped its crazy foot in town"
We never managed to incorporate the words into the song but often use them as a spoken introduction to the song.

Sweet and lowdown, playing around that man sure knows the score

Handsome and brown ,hardly a frown, with him life's never a bore

Got pretty mean in old Abilene, one step ahead of the law

Never played rough , just cool enough, had a style it was hard to ignore
