As part of a nationwide event organised by the Radio Society of Great Britain, members of the Bolton wireless club will set up and operate a radio station from the West Lancashire Light Railway. Visitors will be able to observe the radio station in operation, sending messages to and receving them from other radio/railway stations across the country. This annual event commemorates the anniversary of the first steam-hauled passenger train, on the Stockton & Darlington Railway, on 27th September 1825.
