Kingsholm Secondary School Picture Gallery I took these photos on the day of the School Reunion on the 14th of October 2006. Some of these pictures may look sad and depressing with many of the windows blocked out. The reason for this is that the valuable historic documents that are stored there by the Gloucester Archives Office (formerly the County Records Office) need to be stored in a secure and temperature controlled environment. At least the building still survives. Many old historic buildings of yesteryear have been demolished for inner city development. Do you remember Dog Lane? The Cattle Market or Kings Square? How about cycling to Barton Street swimming baths on Wednesdays?

| The main entrance (as it was then). This entrance is now sealed off, as it was impractical to convert it for wheelchair access, so the rear entrance is now used as the main entrance to the building. | ||
| The main entrance yet again but from here you can see that some of the old windows have not been completely done away with. The classroom to the right of the entrance was the location of my first year in Kingsholm (2A) The next classroom to the right was Mr.Stangroom's Geography classroom. | ||
| This is what we remember as the rear entrance. As you can see it has been adapted for wheelchair access. I have put a white line where Mr.Hopkins' science lab used to be. On the left you can just see the end of the canteen building, whilst on the right is the way down to the boiler room. From the black drainpipe up to and beyond the entrance was the bike sheds. Some of the original concrete slots for bicycles are still in place! | ||
| Here is a view you may remember. It is the old canteen! Scholl dinners were five shillings a week in those days! For the sharp eyed, you will notice Mrs. Stone's classroom has gone. So too has the bike sheds, but the concrete blocks still remain after all these years! | ||
| Here is view looking g up the top playground. You may remember that the bottom playground was for first and second year pupils, whilst the 3rd year pupils and upwards used this top playground. The blanked windows to the right of the entrance is what used to be Mr.Wards' class. To the the right, you can see the end of the metalwork classroom. | ||
|
On the wall by the invisible separator line between the top and bottom playground is this memorial plate.

Yet another wall plate.
I must have stood by it a thousand times, but never noticed it! |

Here is an Arial view of the school. You can see why train spotting was a very popular hobby in Kingsholm! |
