The organ in this 12th Century Church in the center of Chipping Sodbury was constructed by Vowles of Bristol in 1869 (check) and bears the makers nameplate just above the console. It is situated on the left hand side of the Choir and behind an attractively decorated wood screen. In form it is square with an integral console, typical of a relatively small fully tracker instrumentof the period and is probably in much the same condition as when it was built. Although small, it speaks well into the Church and some of the flues and very pleasing on the ear (to my ear at least) |
