This large church has two organs.  The main one (other below) is situated in an organ loft which straddles the nave over the East door, and is a two manual Vowles dating back to the last quarter of the 19th Century (no maker’s plate is evident), and is very much in its original specification.  The action is tracker.   I understand that it is a nice sounding instrument (….the wiring and switches confounded us!!!).  The organ has also seen better days and the console was in a disgusting state!

The second instrument is a beautiful chamber organ situated in the side chapel.  It bears the makers plate in brass  ‘Bevington & Sons, London.’    It was presented 8th August 1850 to St Mary’s Whitechapel, London.   Another plaque indicates that the instrument was then donated by Marjorie Moon to commemorate her family  to this church after renovation in 1982.   It has a short G-G pedal board  and ornate brass combination pedals,  a side pedal for pumping  (although an electric blower now powers the instrument), and a side lever swell pedal.
