Initially, I teamed up with a pianist/songwriter Duart Mclean, and we performed as a duet in small bars. We also recorded demo's which we duly touted around the record industry in search of the elusive deal. In 1985 I auditioned and joined DIAL M, a melodic rock band, as a lead vocalist and became co-writer/lyricist on some of the original material with JOHN FORD (Songwriter and band leader). This material included a song called ‘Self Survival’ – a rendition of this track is on my debut solo album ‘Biting’. At the peak of this period I was also working as a session vocalist with singer/songwriter PETER McENDER, recording and producing original tracks for distribution to artists/record publishing companies. I have since worked as a session vocalist for TIME Records (Italy), EDEN Studios (UK), CLINK Studios, XLR and ELEPHANT Studios on projects ranging from backing vocalist to vocals for Euro Song entries. | |

IMAGE? WOT IMAGE? – Was formed in 1990 with Gregg McKella (DREAMFIELD) and myself as joint songwriters. This was a ‘full on’ psychedelic indie rock band, ‘very live, very energetic and great fun’. The line-up included bassist Debbie Vanozzi (GERTRUDE), lead guitarist Tyronne Thomas (ATZ +), Drums MUFA and the wild and wacky guest appearances of Mark Browne (modern jazz sax/horn/guitar etc). Another surprising guest was Mr NICK TURNER (ex Hawkwind) who kindly joined in on a couple of songs at a festival gig in Wales. | ![]() |
| IWI played at several festivals and venues for over 6 years, (Parachute Club, Lark in the Park, Finsbury, Reading etc) across the UK - not excluding some dark yet somewhat familiar tours involving essences of ‘spinal summinorother’. In 1994 I started performing solo gigs at acoustic venues around London like The Troubador, 12 Bar Club, Kashmere, The Orange and Acoustic Revolution venues, as well as a few festivals. My claim to fame thus far is that I've played with and supported known artists such as Shane McGowan, Nick Turner, Suzi Quatro, (at festivals in Narberth, Wales organised by Henry Langen) Mick Taylor, Conner Reeves (Dublin TV), John Clarke, Steve Gee, and other really great musicians that I can't immediately bring to mind. To cope with the financial handouts for rehearsals rooms and recording studios, I used to busk on the London Underground to get the extra cash - which I still still do, occasionally. It was during such 'a performance' that I met James Fletcher of OCEAN RECORDS. I signed a 3 Album (2 Optional) recording contract with Ocean Records and in 1995 recorded my first solo debut album at CTS Studios - Wembley. 'BITING' , containing 11 original tracks, was released on CD in April 1997. It received some splendid reviews, including a 'Big Issue' article (by Tina Jackson) as well as air play, including GLR, Radio 2, live interviews etc. There were a couple of live guest TV performances too.I am no longer signed to Ocean Records, sadly due to lack of promotional funding. But I am thankful to James for putting his words into actions (a rare trait nowadays) and giving me the opportunity of playing with some really great musicians and creating a well polished debut album. I have now created my own label CSR through which I intend to release all future material and possibly, at some time, promote and record other artists. My new album 'Sugar and Spice' produced by STEVE RISPIN and myself has now been completed. Distribution is through this website and at gigs and will shortly be available through Amazon.com. and Dream Records (Scandinavia). Again the CD contains 11 tracks of original material written by myself with guest musicians STEVE GEE (Landmarq), STEVE RISPIN (SRPS), GREGG McKELLA (Dreamfield), JERRY MOODY, KEVIN KEANE and WAYNE COLLYER.I still regularly gig in music venues in and around London and the UK and am currently in the throws of forming a band to tour the album 'Sugar and Spice' and get a couple of new tracks ready for the next album. | |
